Performance Issues:
Windows
Disable screen savers when viewing the Movie to prevent interruptions.
For best performance, it is recommended that no other applications or utilities are running while
viewing the CD-ROM.
Audio synchronization on the Windows platform is a recurring problem. 90%
of the time it turns out to be a problem with that specific Windows PC, and
doesn't affect other Windows machines. You will probably find that the
movie itself is okay, and the PC just needs configuration help.
If you notice problems with audio synching go to the multimedia control panel. In the
Advanced section select the Audio part. Select the sound card in your system and hit
Properties. Lastly make sure that the checkbox marked Do not map audio through this device
IS selected (i.e. the box has a checkmark in it.) If the problem continues go to the QuickTime
control panel (version 3.0.2) and go to the audio out settings. Make sure the device out is the
correct one. Set the audio to 22 kHz and Mono. If you have more than one device choice
here, try setting it to the other option. Finding the right combination of option in this control
panel solves most problems.
If you notice a problem with video playback go to the QuickTime control panel and go to the
video settings. Disable the checkbox that enables the acceleration. If problems continue
change the setting here to safe mode. Finding the right combination of option in this control
panel solves most problems.
If you can not achieve sufficient playback off of the CD-ROM, one can copy the CDs files to
the hard drive (approx. 500 MB).
To utilize the presentation's on-line capabilities, you must be connected via a modem to your
on-line service provider. Appropriate dial-up software must be installed on your system.
Macintosh
Disable screen savers when viewing the Movie to prevent interruptions.
For best performance, it is recommended that no other applications or utilities are running while
viewing the CD-ROM.
If the Audio drifts out of sync on the Macintosh, the most likely cause is an overtaxed CPU. To
check this play the movie until it is out of sync. Pause the movie for a few seconds. When you
continue the movie, if it is in sync and then begins to drift again it is a CPU issue. Possible
solutions are to:
- Disable Virtual Memory
- Restart with a minimum control panel/ extension set
- Quit all other applications and utilities in the background.
- Disable screen savers and other background Processes.
QuickTime
To install the latest versions of QuickTime for Windows or QuickTime for Macintosh, double
click on the appropriate installer that matches your system. Follow the installer's instructions and
restart your computer.
If you have problems installing QuickTime or can not solve playback issues with the above
notes please go to:

Choose the support section. There are extensive resources here for troubleshooting
QuickTime. QuickTime videos will display better if you have the ability to set your display to
16-bit (thousands of colors) setting.
